From now on the blog will be [mainly] written by me, Jack Turner - you might have heard of me. I'll be trying to fill you in on everything we're getting up to as band, be it band related or not, in this weekly[ish] spasm of words and tasteless jokes that combine things like dogs and Mothering Sunday - though that particular gag was disapproved by the rest of the band. Hopefully you all actually enjoy what I write and find it at least vaguely interesting.
Okay here goes nothing.
This Saturday we had a practice in the little room above my garage that is fondly called 'THE LIBRARY' because it sounds much better to shout "TO THE LIBRARY" than it does to shout "TO THE LITTLE ROOM ABOVE JACK'S GARAGE WHERE WE PRACTICE". It just doesn't have the same ring to it... So it was our first practice since Ben and Phil had gone back to Uni after the Christmas holidays and for those of you who don't know when that was, it was two months ago. TWO WHOLE MONTHS. And you might think that, after going so long without practicing, we'd sound like a bunch of babies banging on instruments but this was not the case at all [although apparently a bunch of babies banging on instruments can play "Come On Eileen" by Dexy's Midnight Runners quite well indeed]. After playing through a couple songs from the album flawlessly, we swiftly moved on to new material in the hope of having at least one new song ready to play for London in April [tickets are available in the store by the way. Wink. Wink. Nudge. Nudge.] Needless to say, the new songs are coming along splendidly and we are very excited about them. Very very excited. It seems strange that you guys have only just got the album when we've gone so far above and beyond it with some of the new material we've got in the pipeline. If you love the album then this stuff will grab you by the neck and shove a firework in your ear. In a good way.
So to conclude: hope you all had a good mother's day; I do the blog now; practice is going well and the new songs sound amazing.
