First and foremost, I'd like to say a huge, huge thank you to all of you, from the most hardcore, dedicated, I-have-you-on-Facebook-and-Snapchat-and-every-other-social-networking-thing-and-I-have-all-your-numbers -saved-on-speed-dial-on-my-phone kind of fans to the rather more nonchalant, passive, I-only-think-you're-alright kind of fans, for welcoming me with such open arms to the Fight The Dice family. It really doesn't feel like 3 months since I officially joined the band and became immersed in band life – it really has flown by. Maybe because that’s just how time works. Who knows. But I've loved every second of it so far. And this is only the beginning.
I should probably also remind you of a few things coming up in the next few weeks. Tonight we play a show called T-Live Bandslam at The Place in Oakengates, Telford. It’s a battle-of-the-bands show as a qualification heat which, if we’re successful, could land us a slot at the T-Live festival this summer. In which case we’ll be playing at the same festival as Union J and Rick Astley. Which would just be fantastic.
We then kick off what Tom described in his previous blog as the “wicked-awesome-mega-fun-week” by playing at Liverpool O2 Academy on Wednesday 16th April in a showcase gig, supporting the main act, FARRA (unless they've changed their name again). This is a HUGELY important gig as there will representatives from record labels there specifically to see us. Just us. (See why it’s all very exciting yet?) And then, to round it all off, we'll be headlining in our home town of Birmingham at the O2 Academy 3 on Saturday 19th April to play our first headline show this year – another HUGELY important gig. (Yeah, now you see why it’s all very exciting).
These shows are some of the most important shows of our careers to date, and they’re all landing within 3 weeks of each other. I can't stress how important it is that as many of you as possible come along to watch us in action at these gigs, not only because we love playing shows to you guys, but also because your presence and your screaming along to our songs will heavily influence judges' and record label reps' opinions of us, which is huge.
This is becoming a dramatically long blog so I should probably round up (now I see why I’m constantly told by my lecturers to write less). As you will have no doubt heard by now, we’re set to play at EssexFest on 19th and 20th July, sharing a stage with Ms. Dynamite, Misha B and Frankie Cocozza. More about that can be saved for another time. However, I would like to say that we are currently organising some time in the summer to record some music. I can't say when, I can't say where, and I can't say what we’re planning to record, partly because nothing’s been officially confirmed yet. But there are plans. And this, too, is all very exciting.
Anyway. As always, tickets are all available from our store, as well as various bits’n’bobs of merch. There’s also a 25% discount on tickets with code ‘ACADEMY’ at the moment, so get them while they’re cheap! And, on the off-chance you haven’t yet, like us, follow us, subscribe to us, listen to us. All that stuff.
Stay classy, San Diego.
