I'll start off two and a half weeks ago with our blistering return to Birmingham and first headline show within the confines of an O2 Academy. We played with some really great bands and the turnout was exceptional - especially for the time of year. Unluckily for those of you who went to Download, your prom or even had to sit at home revising for the last of your exams, it was our best show yet and the first time we'd ever performed new song 'Intertwined' which joined 'Oh Me Oh My' and an as yet untitled track in our setlist. And you really have been missing out as these are quite probably the best three tracks we've ever written. No, really.
Moving forward a couple of weeks, on Saturday Ben and I played a short acoustic set as part of the Shrewsbury Food Festival. It was a beautiful day and we did a splendid job of keeping the large crowds entertained as they ate, despite having only had 3 days of notice that we would be playing at all. The climax of the festival was the highlight for us though, as proceedings moved to the Severn Theatre where we played with 4 other bands as part of Shropshire Unsigned. What a night that was! The quality of all the bands was phenomenal and the crowd was fantastic! To top off a perfect night we got further positive reactions for the new material which just confirmed for us all the more that we're heading in exactly the right direction musically.
All this feedback had us brimming with confidence come Monday morning when we headed back into Magic Garden Studios with Gavin Monaghan to record our first standalone single, 'Oh Me Oh My'. Even though Phil had drunk a little too much the night before, everything went smoothly on the first day and by the evening the track was already sounding astonishing even without vocals or mixing. Needless to say, Ben was feeling some pressure to perform when it came to yesterday morning but he needn't have worried as he sounded better than ever; he nailed everything. We have every confidence that this song could change our lives. We're ready to take the world by storm.
To cap it all off, throughout the last four days we've been filming ourselves do all kinds of stuff from performing to kicking a football around and from recording the new single to dancing backstage. This footage is all going towards creating our new music video for 'Oh Me Oh My' which we're planning to release before 80% of the band bugger off to university this September. We're hoping that the video will give you a fantastic insight into us as people beyond our twitter accounts so that you can all realise how awful we are as people. I mean we are just truly horrible and you deserve to know. It'll be wonderful! The best video in the world.
And on that bombshell, goodnight!
