On Monday we had what will be the penultimate practice leading up to this gig and it couldn't have gone much better. The songs off of 'Wisest Choice...' sound as tight and energetic as they always have and the new tracks are absolutely mind melting. Two of the songs we are working on are powerful and emotive ballads that could reduce even the hardest of men to whimpering wrecks. The third song is another beast entirely. Penguin, which has the fondest of working titles, will bend you over, shove a firework up your behind, light it, then throw you into a giant ball pit. Yeah, we think it's that good. There's a cohesion about us when we practice this song like we no longer exist as 5 separate humans but as a musical tank hellbent on tearing down everything standing in the way of us and success. Every time we finish playing it there's a moment of silence where we all seem to just be in a state of awe. A moment of silence which is usually broken by someone saying they want to do it again and everyone agreeing profusely.
On a less serious note, Tom and I went to a foam party in a club on Sunday. Has anyone else ever been to one of those? They're absolutely mental. Between having foam blasted into your face by cannons and the DJ encouraging everyone to remove their tops, it gets pretty disorientating when you're in the thick of things. And once the foam has dropped from your face, it doesn't go anywhere anytime soon. Within ten minutes it was almost up to our waists and made walking increasingly difficult. This also meant that our shoes, socks and trousers got absolutely soaked and because we went back to Tom's house afterwards, I had no spare clothes for the morning. I really didn't think it through.
Oh, and I almost forgot Easter! Hope everyone had a nice day doing whatever it is your family does on Easter. Mine had a big Sunday lunch. Yummy. Tell us about your Easter via comment or tweet and I don't know, we'll shoutout the person who had the most interesting day or something...
Can't wait to see you all at Islington,
