Today sees the release of the early bird allocation of tickets to this year's EssexFest and the announcement of the festival's first set of acts. As you have probably guessed already, we are on that line-up. And we'll be sharing the stage with the likes of Ms Dynamite, who you may remember as the BRIT Award and MOBO Award winning artist (and even if you don't, you sure as hell recognise this song). The other acts on the line-up are all hugely talented as well so do give them a look in. Hugely excited for this one. Read more about our slot confirmation here. This week we partnered up with our friends at Deth Kult clothing on a joint promotion deal. As a band it is always great to team up with other bands and brands, and these guys have got some really sweet gear on their store.
You can now pre-order your tickets to our shows at O2 Academy Islington and O2 Academy Liverpool on our store. We have just a few things to run through before the shows.
Please, PLEASE, if you are coming to the show to see us play, only buy your tickets from us. The reason for this is because bands get an allocation of tickets to each show and they have to sell them. If all our fans get their tickets from third parties then we won't sell our allocation of tickets (even though we brought a load of fans!) and the promoter won't book us again. Read more on this on our FAQ page. Likewise, bring your friends! Bring a friend, watch the show, meet us all, party on. The more is always the merrier. No exceptions. Ticket pre-order links are below: O2 Academy2 Islington 21st February 2014 Doors: 7pm Tickets: http://bit.ly/1aHRDlx O2 Academy2 Liverpool 16th April 2014 Doors: 7pm Tickets: http://bit.ly/1a1DVJm Pre-order terms: if you are purchasing your pre-order just bear in mind that the tickets will not be shipped until they come into stock. As is the case with any pre-order purchase, we will ship all ticket orders as soon as they are available to release. As with everything else on our store, your order should be with you within 5-6 working days of being placed. If you have not received your tickets three days prior to the event and are starting to panic then let us know. We are not going to bite your head off, and we would much rather see happy faces in the crowd than a load of confused and disappointed ones sat at home cursing the day of our birth. We will be more than happy to help. See you all soon! We will be making our long-awaited return to London on the 21st February 2014 at the O2 Academy 2 Islington.
The show is an Upsurge! showcase and will be our first London show in almost a year - our last one being in April 2013 at the main stage. We are hugely excited for our return to the capital; we've had a huge amount of interest from all of you so we do expect to see a lot of you there. Although it's relatively short notice (with only 3 weeks until the show itself) we would really appreciate all the support you can give us. BUY TICKETS HERE. Details: Venue: O2 Academy2 Islington Date: Friday 21st February 2014 Event: UpSurge! (industry and press event) Stage Time: 9pm Set Time: 25min Adv Tickets: £7.50 (from our store) Door Tickets: £9 Curfew: Live music curfew 10pm | Club-night 10:30pm - 3:30am London in the past has been a massively successful city for us and we have no intention of letting that go just yet: we need you guys to go absolutely crazy for this show. We will of course be meeting and greeting you out front before and after our set so make sure you speak to us. Can't wait to see you London, it has been far too long. We will be performing a main support slot at the O2 Academy Liverpool on 16th April 2014.
This will be a huge show for us as we have never been to Liverpool, and to play an O2 Academy there on our first trip is an honour. We know we have had a lot of interest from you guys in the North-West so we expect to see a lot of new faces at this show - and we know you won't disappoint (you never do!) Full details of the show will be revealed in due course, including the headliner, doors, stage times and most importantly ticket details. As ever you will be able to purchase tickets from our online store, and as far as we understand at this stage, they will be priced at £7.50. The show is right in the middle of our Easter break so we'll be looking to play some BRAND NEW songs in our set - to add to the three we've been road-testing over the past few shows. These new songs are sounding great and we sincerely hope they are ready for you to here them all for our first ever Liverpool show. Can't wait for this one. Aloha! We just saw a great review of our set at the O2 Academy Birmingham in November, from the ever wonderful guys at Music224.com. ...tonight's set was once again a pleasure to hear and watch. These guys just seem to be going from strength to strength so roll on 2014 and all that I'm sure it is destined to bring for Fight The Dice." Read the full review here.
We are home right now for a weekend of band practice and partying so if you see us around come and say hey. We'll also have some more performance news in the near future ~ we are just waiting for some final confirmations before we can make any announcements. The observant among you will notice that we have made some minor tweaks to our website. We are constantly working to make sure our website is up to date with all the latest news and music, and we hope you enjoy giving it a browse.
We've redesigned our Biography and Reviews pages, and we've made the website interface a little easier to navigate. As you presumably all know by now, the Store was redesigned a little while back to incorporate a fab Shopping Cart. Please all of you feel free to give the site a spin and have a read of some of our pages - we have some really great content awaiting discovery. You can also now buy music directly from our store, if you'd rather avoid iTunes etc. Current projects we're working on include making the website more streamlined on mobile devices and bringing in promotional codes for the merch store. Stay tuned. We are pleased to announce that we will be performing on both days of EssexFest 2014.
The festival will take place on 19 & 20 July 2014 at Orsett Showground, and features some of the best of British talent. Early bird tickets are soon to go on sale over on their website and we will let you know more as and when the information becomes available. It's been a while since we've been in that region so all of you guys in the Greater London area better be making an appearance and showing us what you've got. We are hoping to book more shows down in London itself (Islington watch yourself!) this year as well so keep an eye out. For now, we're really excited to be getting on board with EssexFest and start working with these guys. It's already looking like it's going to be a great weekend. They're also hosting a competition for artists and bands to enter for the chance to join us onstage at the festival: if you know any bands who you want to see sharing the stage with us, send them over to this page and get their entry in there. More on the blog soon. I am taking this opportunity to write you guys a quick post. Today is my last day off before term 2 at university so I will be drowning in Philosophy work soon enough. Instead of prepping for the new term, I've spent the last 2 days listening to Spotify playlists of all those songs-you-know-but-don't-know-the-name-of and it's become my new favourite thing ever.
We are in the early stages of booking shows for the year. Keep an eye out for what we'll be doing over Easter especially because some of you in Greater London and the North West may be in for a nice surprise. Obviously confirmed show dates will be put up on the homepage and on the blog as soon as they come in. Meanwhile, it won't be too long until we're back in the studio recording our new tracks. We have an absolute flood of new music coming in, as well as a couple which are already finished but not yet recorded. It's all sounding great, including some masterful contributions from our new drummer, Mr Jamie Baker. You have a lot to be excited about on this front. I am still fundraising this year, and I need all of your support going forward because we are still just under half-way to our target of £3,000 raised for Hope For Children so please, please check this out and donate anything you can give. It's a really worthwhile cause and it would mean a lot to me personally to have the support from our fans. If you haven't heard about the challenge then I respectfully request you check it out right about now. This year we are also working on new merchandise for you guys, although that project as yet is in a very early stage of development. Term restarts tomorrow but never fear, we shall keep you updated as often as we can with everything that's going on with us, and we're to be reunited in a couple of weeks anyways so you will doubtless see a lot of us then. Meantime, take care of yourselves. If you have/have had exams, don't go crazy. If you're back at work, keep on trucking. We'll see you all very soon. Sam It feels like no time at all since I became involved with Fight The Dice. Sam first mentioned them in passing in a conversation with a sassy French girl in college, and it's crazy how far the band has come in the two years since then. Having played drums with them (although it's weird that "them" is now becoming "us"!) in venues ranging from the Theatre Severn to the main stage of Bristol O2 Academy and having attended numerous shows, it feels like I've been a small part of the Fight The Dice journey for so long.
However, that's all to change. I was really surprised to be asked by Phil to take on the role of drummer, and it is truly a real shame that Phil has decided to step down. As I'm sure you will all agree, he is an excellent drummer, and a good friend. At the same time, I can’t wait to get going with writing new music, playing shows and meeting so many of the band's brilliantly dedicated fans. Having caught up with all the new and unreleased music that’s been written since I last played I can tell this year will be a big one for Fight The Dice, and I'm really excited to be a part of it. I hope you’re all ready for what’s in store this year, it’s going to kick some serious ass. Jamie |
